They really do go a long way.
While working a few weeks ago, I had a customer who was wearing a hand-made, crocheted scarf.
I commented on the scarf; how good it looked, how warm it looked and how nice the workmanship was.
She said she crocheted it herself, and it was one of the first things she’d tried to make.
She highlighted the flaws of the scarf, but I continued to praise it.
Do you know that the nameless woman crocheted me a scarf? Yes. She dropped it off with one of my supervisors.
To some, this may not be a big deal, but this woman took time out of her life to make something for me, a complete stranger.
This one incident proved to me that even with all the problems and tragedies in life, there is always some light in the darkness.
So, in 2011, whether you make resolutions or not, be nice to people.
You never know what you’ll get out of it.
